New comics are due to hit the shelves on Wednesday so here’s a look ahead at some of the books we’ll be picking up this week along with a full list of titles that will be available from Paradox Comics.
James R: The middle of October brings another fine week of new releases to Paradox. Once again, DC takes up the lion's share of titles on my pull-list. Firstly, Tom King's run on Batman enters the final straight (before he finishes the story fully in the 12-issue Batman/Catwoman) and it's the second issue of Jeff Lemire and Keith Giffen's intriguing Inferior Five. The book I'm most looking forward to is the third issue of Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen. Matt Fraction and Steve Lieber's whip-smart and inventive take on the Daily Planet's most endangered reporter has quickly established itself as one of the must-read books of the year, and continues to surprise with every issue.
From Image, there are two favourites - firstly, there's the latest instalment in Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino's phenomenal Gideon Falls (my number one pick for our recent Top 15 chart) and it's the second issue of Warren Ellis and Jason Howard's long-anticipated return to the world of Trees in Three Fates.
Finally, Marvel has one very heavy-hitter on my list this week. Following the phenomenal House Of X/Powers Of X series that revitalised and re-defined the X-Men, Jonathan Hickman now brings his genius to play on the ongoing X-Men title. With art from Lenil Francis Yu, this is a title that is guaranteed to be a smash.
